. | | | Bags for Boarders | | Right before exam week last month, PA moms and grandmoms delivered holiday bags, filled with stocking stuffers, to all students boarding at Montverde Academy, as well as the Montverde students that board with the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy. Afterward, PA moms delivered some extra holiday bags to the enrichment faculty and to the administrative staff. Our PA holiday mission was to give a little taste of Christmas to every boarding student to enjoy while they studied for their upcoming exams. They received some warm cups of holiday cheer for the cold weekend, a few goodies to eat, some toiletry items, and a holiday stuffed toy. Montverde Academy elves were Aimie Bonnette, Anna Bird, Brenda Boggs, Christi Schmid, Donia Richards, Heather Johnson, Jennifer Cunningham, Jill Turnquist, Judy Newlin, Kathy LaPlate, Kathy Rothstein, Kelly Monteleone, Lauren Chambet, Lora Feingold, Mandi NeSmith, Martha Ripassy, Normica Campbell, Susan Cech, Tammy Hayes, Tiffany Tatsch, and Yvonne Brown. A big thanks to Barbara Metello, Brenda Boggs, Christine Helm, Christi Schmid, Dr. Charles Pike, Dr. Darren Sinopoli, Jennifer Cunningham, Judy Newlin, Kalena Meyers, Kathy Rothstein, Patty Stanley, Tania Marler, Vicki Karen (and her neighbor!), and many other moms and dads that brought in bags of goodies and dropped off all kinds of toiletries to give to the kids. A very warm thanks to Tammy Hayes, Yvonne Brown and Anna Bird for baking cookies for over 300 holiday bags. Once again, a warmhearted thanks to Mr. Foley, Mr. Delmolino, and Mrs. Shackelford for coordinating this effort with the PA. Finally, a fond thanks to Kellie and Chuck Monteleone, for providing the elves with a golf cart sleigh. Anna Bird's truck, Yvonne Brown's van, and the golf cart made the distribution & trash disposal process quick and effortless. On behalf of the PA, a sincere thanks to everyone who made this event so special and helped spread a little Christmas cheer throughout all of the dorms on the Academy's campus! | | | PA Family Volunteer Activities | | | This Spring, the PA plans to work with the lower school for a gently used backpack & school supplies give-away program. Details forthcoming.... Last month, the PA assisted the lower school with Mrs. Synovec's annual "One-two-buckle-my-shoe" drive. Our PA "shoe mission" was to transport all of the shoeboxes to Lake County's Foster/Adoptive Care Association. Almost 200 pairs of shoes were delivered to a grateful bunch of ladies and their special little angels! Once again, our Montverde lower-school kids and their families shared their hearts with our neighbors in need. For Thanksgiving, these kids raised over $1,600 for local families in need with their "Change Challenge" fundraiser for the "Faith Neighborhood Center" in Groveland. Amazing job, kids! PA volunteers also worked with Brenda Boggs to spread some holiday cheer around the Montverde campus by putting up Christmas decorations all over the school. We spread holiday cheer inside and out! A big "Thank You!" to Brenda Boggs, for chairing the decorating committee for the 4th year in a row! After finishing the campus decorating, the PA team, consisting of new MVA moms Gabby and Isabella, as well as Lauren Chambet, Normica Campbell, Hollis Nelson, Anna Bird, Heather Johnson, and Brenda Boggs all helped Mr. Connelly, Mr. Ahern and Mrs. O'Donnell decorate the Fine Arts Building for last month's outstanding and touching "Lessons & Carols" events. If you are interested in volunteering, our "Family Volunteer team" would love for you to join us! For more information, please contact Heather Johnson at
