The MVA
Hunter/Jumper Team spent a week of fun at the Florida Carriage Museum
and Resort in Wiersdale, FL (near The Villages) August 11-15.
Activities included trail riding, swimming, and a scavenger hunt. We
closed the week by participating in a show
hosted by Horse Shows In The Park. This particular event included over
60 competitors among 20 divisions at different skill levels. The
results are as follows:
Molly Callaghan aboard Code of Silence (aka Cody) performed in the
Pleasure and Crossrails divisions. The Pleasure division challenged the
rider and horse in various gaits while the Crossrails division was
judged on the rider and horse performance over
18" jumps. In the Pleasure they earned two 1st places and a 3rd. In
the Crossrails they earned a 1st and a 2nd.
Grace Carpenter aboard Tribute performed in the Dressage
Suitability, 2' Jumpers, and 2'6" Jumpers divisions. Dressage
Suitability is judged on various skills in all gaits and Jumpers is
judged on speed and strategic course performance. In Dressage they
earned three 2nds. In 2' Jumpers they earned a 3rd place and in 2'6"
they earned a 4th place.
Grace Carpenter aboard Cracker Boome (aka Cracker) performed in the
2' Jumpers and 2'6" Jumpers. They earned a 4th and a 2nd respectively.
Justin Caprenter aboard Finglebridge Fearless (aka Finn) performed
in the Modified 2'3". This division included under saddle classes
(non-jumping) and jumping classes. They earned two 5th places, a 4th,
and a 3rd.
Madeline Devine aboard Daddy's Major Promise (aka Major) performed
their last show on the team showing off their skills in the Pleasure
division. They earned a 2nd and two 3rd places. Now a graduated senior
of MVA, Madeline and Major have relocated to
Gainesville to attend college together at the University of Florida.
Samantha Lafferty aboard Absolut Risk performed in the Modified
2'3" division. Having been away on vacation for most of the summer and
unable to practice much this pair proved that they didn't lose their
touch by earning a 3rd, three 4th places, a 5th,
and a 6th.
Deborah Wade and Hunter/Jumper Trainer Jennifer Thompson performed
collectively aboard Patriotism (aka PT). Deborah performed on Saturday
in the Dressage Suitability, Pleasure, and Modified 2'3" divisions. In
Dressage they earned two 1st places. In
Pleasure they earned a 1st, a 2nd, and a 4th. In Modified they earned a
1st. Jennifer Performed on Sunday in the Open Hunter 2'6" division
earning three 2nds.
