 On April 19th, Montverde Academy Senior Haukur Palsson signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. Coming off the bench, Palsson averaged 10 ppg and 5 rpg for the Montverde Academy Basketball Program that finished #5 in the nation according to ESPNRise.com. The University of Maryland Terrapins won the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship in 2002 and are led by future Hall of Famer Gary Williams. Coach Williams and his staff fell in love with Palsson when they first saw him in January and set up an official visit in February on the Men's Basketball team's Senior Day. Palsson verbally committed during that visit. Palsson also received scholarship offers from the University of Central Florida and the University of South Florida.

James Bell is the first player in Montverde
Academy history to be
selected to an All-American Basketball team. Bellth team, USA Today
All-American 3rd team and ESPN RISE All-American 2nd
team. Bell
led the Montverde Academy Eagles in scoring with an average of 18.3 points per
game. Bell
is also the first ever two-time Lake
County player of the year.
James Bell will play college basketball next year at Villanova
University.
